Healthy Schools Initiative

At Curzon this year we are working hard towards reaching accreditation under the National Healthy Schools Standard. To gain accreditation we need to reach a set standard in eight key areas:

  • The whole school - its ethos, community, and environment
  • Personal, Social and Health Education (PHSE) and citizenship
  • Sex and relationship education
  • Drug education
  • Physical activity
  • Food and healthy eating
  • Safety
  • Emotional health and well-being

Although the curriculum subjects cover some of these areas others involve activities outside of the curriculum. We already have several examples: Do you remember whole school Tai Chi last spring, and the playground games we introduced week by week last year? There is also the very popular environmental club and of course the School Council.

We've provided links to two websites from various government departments/agencies aimed at children in Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. The sites include entertaining activities for children with notes for teachers, parents or guardians.
